The most challenging part of this research project was to find substancial information and to put it into a powerpoint. What worked well for me in this research project was using technology and to have had prior exprience. This should and shouldn't be taught in 9th grade humanities because it takes lots of time and effort and i don't quite know if some people are ready for the challenge. Yet, on the other hand it really helps prepare us for 10th grade projects and even History Day.

I learned that Michelangelo really had painting in his blood. His families trait was painting. He was taught by the best and worked for the best. He played his cards right and became famous. In this project you have to precieve many things and have to overcome just gearing your source to just one source like a website instead of using the materials given to you and use a variety. My next steps are to continue doing research and start drafts of my paper and thinking about how the over-all project is going to look. My question is if you can't find a book on your sculpture can you use just one source or what?

This Humanities project is making us look deep within our culture and what we have learned. It is making us understand our human race even more and is making us look within ourselves and learn about our culture without it there is no history. The Pieta by Michelangelo is an inspiring piece that shows a different way of thinking. My next step is to do some more research on this painting and the painter and create a presentation that is really good. I used Google, Dogpile and Yahoo and they are very helpful search engines. Online sources are more helpful than the books. I learned that Michelangelo was different than most painters and that he had different ways of painting. My piece is on the Christ and his mother Mary. I have completed much of everything except the actual presentation and some research. I am going to spend my time in the computer lab on Friday looking for some more research and putting it all together.

I used 2 search engines which were google and dogpile. The online sources were a lot easier and more helpful then the media center books. I learned that he was actually a corener and a mathmatician and a philospher. I have finally chosen a piece to work on. I have completed the stages of finding a artist and a piece of art and I am on the current stage of finding and obtaining info.

March 3rd, 2009

So far the Human Form in Art has been somewhat easy. I already know who the artist I'm going to use is and what the piece of art he created. It is hard finding a book on this art but it will be easier to find it on the internet or the encyclopedia. The questions that I still have is, "Does we have to use a book?" and "What if we can't find a book on our topic?" The next steps that I'm going to do is I'm going to try to find some info on my artist and his work of art.
